Job DescriptionTester – 5G NTN Core Automation & Simulator ToolingLevel: Software / Senior Software Engineer Type: Full‑time Experience: 3+ years Telecom Role SummaryHands‑on Test Engineers responsible for functional, non‑functional, security, and chaos testing of a ground‑up 5G Core with optional exposure to NTN (Non‑Terrestrial Networks). The role includes developing automation suites, UE/gNB/NF simulator tooling, and ensuring the reliability and resilience of cloud‑native 5G core functions deployed on AWS. Key ResponsibilitiesTest ExecutionExecute functional, performance/load, security, and chaos test cases across lab and pre‑production AWS environments.Validate 5G core call flows: registration, authentication, session establishment/modification/release, mobility, and policy enforcement across AMF/SMF/UPF and related NFs.Verify protocol behaviour for NGAP, GTP‑U, PFCP, NAS, and PDCP‑adjacent handling.Automation & Simulator ToolingBuild, extend, and maintain automation suites and UE/gNB/NF simulator tooling under Test Architect guidance.Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous regression, interoperability, and protocol‑level validation.Chaos & Resilience TestingExecute fault‑injection scenarios: pod/node failure, network partition, latency injection, feeder‑link interruption, and other resilience‑focused tests.Capture resilience metrics and support engineering teams in analysing failure modes.Reporting & CollaborationLog, triage, and track defects; produce detailed test reports, logs, and protocol traces for engineering and customer review.Work closely with developers and architects to reproduce, isolate, and resolve issues.Mandatory Skills & Experience3+ years Telecom experience with hands‑on 5G network‑function testing (functional + non‑functional).Practical experience with security and chaos testing for distributed, cloud‑native systems.Hands‑on experience with automation and simulator tooling: UE/gNB simulators, traffic generators, protocol test suites.Working knowledge of Kubernetes test environments and CI/CD‑integrated test execution.Scripting proficiency in Python/Bash, with ability to read C/C++ for protocol‑level defect isolation.Familiarity with Robot Framework, PyTest, and packet analysis using Wireshark.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or equivalent.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.Exposure to validating scalability, resilience, security, and deployment readiness of telecom systems on AWS.NTN (Non‑Terrestrial Network) knowledge or experience is a plus, not mandatory.Experience with observability stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK.Productive use of AI assistants (Claude, Cursor, Codex, etc.) for automation and failure analysis.
