The Department of Management and Organization at Hanken School of Economics invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Management & OrganizationThe position is in Helsinki, starting August 1, 2027, or as agreed. Scholars associated with the subject regularly publish articles in leading international academic journals such as the Journal of Management, Organization Studies, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Human Relations and Journal of Business Ethics. The teaching covers issues within organizational behavior, HRM, strategic management, international business, social responsibility and sustainability, and business ethics. The degree can be from any relevant discipline provided that the candidate’s research focus is related to the area of management and organization. A focus on organizational behavior or HRM is considered a merit.Candidates will be reviewed based on their research, teaching, institutional service, and societal impact. The main focus will be on the potential to conduct high-quality scientific research, , and the potential to provide high-quality teaching. Research is the most important of the qualification areas followed by teaching, and then, service and societal impact. Applicants for the current position are required to have a fluent command of both English and Swedish. Teaching in Swedish is expected as part of the position's responsibilities. Academic staff at Hanken are expected to carry out and supervise scientific research projects, obtain external funding, provide high-quality academic teaching, closely follow the advances of their field, and participate in service to Hanken, the larger academic community, and society. The full-time position has an annual working time of 1612 hours. During the academic year, it is expected that a minimum average of three days per week is spent at the office in Helsinki to actively contribute to the research and teaching environment, as well as to the collegial community. Hanken offers relocation support for tenure track professors coming outside Finland and expects full-time academic employees to reside and work in Finland. Teaching tasks are allocated based on the curriculum needs of the subject and by considering relevant expertise. Hanken offers multiple pedagogical training opportunities as well as Swedish language training. Salary and other benefits The salary is based on the university salary system in Finland. The exact salary level depends on qualifications and performance. At the assistant professor level, the annual salary range starts from around 60.000 euros (including a holiday bonus). In addition, the employment includes occupational healthcare as well as pension contributions. Hanken will support the appointed person with a research budget and additional rewards for excellence in research and teaching. Research, travel, and teaching development grants can also be applied for. Individuals placed on the Hanken tenure track have the possibility to advance in their career through regular performance assessments, which take into account their merits in all relevant qualification areas of the tenure track system.
