Interim Buyer - Production Equipment This is a high-impact role within the Indirect Procurement function, with responsibility for Production Equipment and CAPEX purchasing. You will work on complex, high-value investment projects where procurement plays a central role in achieving the right balance between cost, quality, technology, timing and commercial risk. The role offers significant exposure to international suppliers, major investment projects and stakeholders across multiple countries. You will work closely with engineering, project teams, finance, legal, operations and procurement colleagues to ensure that sourcing decisions support the wider business strategy. What you will doYou will take ownership of procurement activities throughout the sourcing and project lifecycle, from supplier assessment and commercial strategy through negotiation, contracting and implementation. Your responsibilities will include:Develop and execute sourcing strategies for production equipment and other major CAPEX investments.Lead commercial negotiations with international suppliers, securing competitive terms while protecting the organisation's long-term interests.Manage commercial agreements and support contract negotiations in collaboration with relevant internal functions.Work closely with engineering, project management, finance, operations and other stakeholders to understand requirements and identify the best commercial solutions.Challenge specifications, supplier proposals and established ways of working where there is an opportunity to improve value.Identify and implement savings opportunities across price, technology, specifications, logistics, supply chain and commercial terms.Evaluate and benchmark potential suppliers, markets and alternative sourcing solutions.Manage supplier selection and sourcing projects against agreed milestones, budgets and business requirements.Establish productive, professional relationships with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders.Ensure procurement data, supplier information and project documentation are maintained accurately and transparently.Manage several projects simultaneously, prioritising effectively while ensuring commitments and deadlines are met.Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes, tools and ways of working. We expect you to bring:A university degree in business, economics, engineering, procurement or another relevant technical discipline, or equivalent experience.Experience within procurement, sourcing, purchasing or a closely related commercial function.Strong commercial and negotiation capability.An analytical and structured approach to evaluating business cases and supplier proposals.The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities independently.Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.A proactive approach and willingness to challenge existing practices constructively.High integrity, sound professional judgement and a strong sense of accountability.A results-oriented mindset and the ability to take initiatives from idea through to execution.Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken.Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and related business tools is an advantage.
