Director - European Medical Affairs

This is an opportunity to join a growing biotechnology organisation at an important stage of development, with the opportunity to help shape its European Medical Affairs infrastructure and contribute to the advancement of potentially transformative therapies for patients living with serious cardiovascular disease. Role: Develop and lead the strategy and operating model for the European MSL organisation.Recruit, lead, coach and develop a high-performing, geographically dispersed MSL team.Establish standards for KOL engagement, scientific exchange, documentation and compliance.Build strong relationships with European KOLs, academic centres and clinical networks.Translate field insights into medical strategy, evidence-generation priorities and actionable plans.Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial and Market Access on clinical programmes, launch readiness and evidence plans.Provide scientific leadership across congresses, advisory boards, investigator meetings, training and strategic initiatives.Support clinical trial execution through site engagement, investigator interactions, SIVs and study meetings.Identify and communicate site-level challenges, feasibility considerations, enrolment barriers and field insights to relevant teams.Support patient enrolment and retention through scientific engagement and data-driven insights.Establish and monitor MSL performance metrics, engagement quality and impact measures.Drive adoption of appropriate field systems, processes and training across the European team. Profile: Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD/DO or equivalent) in a life sciences or related scientific discipline preferred.5-7+ years’ experience in Medical Affairs, Field Medical or a pharmaceutical/biotech environment.Strong expertise in cardiovascular disease, particularly HCM and HF/HFpEF.Proven experience leading and developing MSL teams across multiple European markets.Strong KOL engagement and relationships within academic and community cardiology.Ability to translate scientific and field insights into clear medical strategies and priorities.Strong communication, presentation and cross-functional leadership skills.Experience supporting a cardiovascular product launch or major label expansion preferred.Knowledge of MSL systems, CRM platforms and compliant field medical practices.Experience working in a growing biotech or lean organisation preferred.Willingness to travel extensively across Europe, including occasional weekends.
