Embedded Software Team LeadEU - RemoteContract - 12 Months+ Ever wondered what it actually takes to lead the software behind millions of set-top boxes? We're hiring an Embedded Linux Software Technical Lead to drive our multi-platform Digital TV / STB software stack, built on Yocto and RDK-Video. This is a hands-on role; you'll be down in the kernel and drivers one minute, and steering technical direction for the platform team the next. You'll own the dev process, work directly with SoC and OEM vendors, and be the person the team turns to when the cross-system bugs get gnarly. What you'll be doing: Leading design, development and maintenance of our STB software stackOwning low-level platform work — bring-up, bootloader porting, kernel and driver integrationPorting the stack across architectures (MIPS, ARM, IA32) and SoC platformsBuilding and maintaining native middleware and the device porting layer on RDK-VideoDriving performance improvements across the embedded system and CI/CD pipelinesLeading triage and resolution of complex, cross-system issues (kernel to userspace)Mentoring engineers and owning the software development process (code review, CI, releases)Managing day-to-day technical relationships with SoC, OEM, and ODM vendorsStepping in as Scrum Master when needed What you'll bring:Expertise in C/C++ development for embedded systems, with senior/technical-lead experienceProven track record leading and mentoring engineering teams on complex, multi-platform projectsExpert knowledge of Linux internals and hands-on embedded Linux development (drivers, IPC, networking, containerisation)Experience porting software/drivers across multiple architecturesExpert-level OpenEmbedded/Yocto and RDK software stack knowledgeStrong CI/CD experience — ideally owning build, integration, and verification automationComfortable working at the hardware level (oscilloscope, schematics, signal analysis)Solid grounding in networking (TCP/IP, WiFi, QoS/NAT/security) and storage/filesystems for embedded systems Nice to have: DVB standards, DOCSIS/cable-modem integration, DVR engine development, ARM/SH4 assembler, Scrum Master experience.
