Freelance Animator – Stop-Motion Short Film
A live-action filmmaker is seeking talented animators and stop-motion artists to collaborate on a 5–6 minute comedy-drama short film centered around a family visiting an elderly relative in hospital. The project aims to evoke a heartfelt, emotional atmosphere reminiscent of the Memoir of a Snail trailer, focusing on mood and tone rather than replicating its visual style. This is an opportunity to bring a unique vision to life through claymation or stop-motion animation, contributing to a deeply personal and creative project.
Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the filmmaker to interpret the script and storyboard into compelling stop-motion or claymation sequences Design, build, and animate characters, sets, and props that capture the emotional tone of the story Develop and execute animation workflows, ensuring smooth transitions and consistent visual storytelling Integrate feedback from the director to refine scenes and enhance narrative impact Manage project timelines and deliver high-quality animated sequences within agreed deadlines Coordinate with sound and post-production teams as needed to ensure cohesive final output
Skills And Requirements
Proven experience in stop-motion or claymation animation, with a strong portfolio showcasing narrative-driven work Ability to convey emotion and atmosphere through animation, prioritizing storytelling over visual mimicry Proficiency in relevant animation tools, camera equipment, and post-production software Strong creative vision and attention to detail in character and set design Excellent communication skills and openness to collaborative feedback Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time effectively for a single-project engagement Availability for remote collaboration; flexible scheduling to accommodate project milestones
