Halton is looking for a Head of EHSQ, SBA Buildings to lead Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality (EHSQ) strategy, governance, performance and continuous improvement across its SBA Buildings business area.

This is a senior leadership role and a member of the SBA Buildings Management Team. In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring that EHSQ management systems, regulatory compliance, customer quality requirements, safety performance, environmental responsibility and operational risk management are effectively implemented across SBA Buildings operations, sites and relevant functions.

Your role

As Head of EHSQ, SBA Buildings, you will own and lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the EHSQ strategy for the business area. You will define governance models, priorities, policies, standards, management practices and performance expectations while ensuring consistent EHSQ practices across relevant sites, functions and operations.

As a member of the SBA Buildings Management Team, you will provide strategic input to business planning, operational performance reviews, risk assessments, investment decisions and organizational development. You will support business leadership in making informed decisions related to safety, compliance, quality, environmental responsibility, business continuity and customer risk.

You will be responsible for leading the safety and health agenda across SBA Buildings, driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring systematic management of occupational safety risks and overseeing incident prevention, investigations and corrective actions.

The role also carries ownership of the environmental management agenda, including environmental compliance, management system obligations, environmental risk management and initiatives related to waste reduction, resource efficiency and sustainability integration.

In quality leadership, you will own the SBA Buildings quality management framework, lead quality performance improvement initiatives, manage customer quality escalations and non-conformance processes, and drive Cost of Poor Quality reduction across the business area.

You will additionally be responsible for certified management systems relevant to SBA Buildings and ensure readiness for internal audits, external audits, certification audits and customer audits. In this role, you will act as the senior SBA Buildings representative towards certification bodies, regulatory authorities and key customer audit stakeholders in EHSQ-related matters.

Leadership responsibility

You will lead and develop the SBA Buildings EHSQ organization, including target setting, performance management, competence development, succession planning and resource planning. The role includes direct leadership of EHSQ professionals such as Quality Managers, EHS Managers, Safety Specialists, Quality Specialists, EHSQ Engineers, Coordinators and other EHSQ resources according to the final organizational structure. You will also provide functional leadership, governance and guidance to site-level and function-level EHSQ resources across SBA Buildings.

A central part of the role is building EHSQ capability across the organization by coaching leaders, managers and specialists in safety, quality, environmental compliance and risk management.

What we expect from youTo succeed in this role, you have:

A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Management or another equivalent relevant discipline.A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in EHSQ, quality, safety, environmental management or operational excellence within an industrial, manufacturing or project business environment.Proven experience in leading EHSQ strategy, governance and management systems across a business unit, multiple sites or a comparable organizational scope.Strong understanding of certified management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and other relevant industry or customer-specific standards.Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, audit leadership and corrective action governance.Proven leadership experience, including leading experts, building functional capability and influencing senior management.Strong business acumen and the ability to connect EHSQ performance with customer satisfaction, operational continuity, cost, profitability and business risk.Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills in an international matrix environment.Professional working proficiency in English. Finnish and other relevant languages are considered an advantage depending on the scope of the role.

The following will be considered an advantage

Experience in global or multi-site EHSQ leadership.Experience in customer audits, supplier quality, regulatory authority cooperation and certification body management.Experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, environmental performance improvement or carbon reduction initiatives.Lean Six Sigma, auditor, safety leadership or environmental management certification.Experience in leading transformation programmes or harmonizing EHSQ practices across sites or business units.
