HSE Advisor - Finland

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading engineering and building services organisation on the appointment of an HSE Advisor for a major Data Centre project in Finland. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSE professional to join a large-scale European construction project within the rapidly growing data centre sector. Working closely with project management, site teams and subcontractors, you will provide a visible HSE presence across the project, ensuring high standards are maintained across complex engineering and construction activities. In your new role: Provide day-to-day HSE advice and support to project and site teamsMaintain a strong site presence, engaging regularly with supervisors, employees and subcontractorsCarry out site inspections, safety walks and compliance auditsMonitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable legislationReview RAMS, Safe Systems of Work and other project HSE documentationMonitor higher-risk construction and installation activities, ensuring appropriate controls are implementedSupport Permit-to-Work processes across relevant site activitiesDeliver and support site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefingsMonitor subcontractor HSE performance and challenge unsafe practices where requiredInvestigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are closed outMaintain accurate HSE records, reports and project performance dataSupport environmental compliance across waste, pollution prevention and material managementAssist with emergency preparedness and project-specific HSE arrangementsWork closely with project management, contractors and client representatives to continually improve HSE performance What you'll need to succeed: NEBOSH General, NEBOSH Construction or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualificationPrevious HSE experience within construction, engineering, M&E, energy, data centres or another high-risk project environmentStrong practical understanding of construction Health & Safety and Safe Systems of WorkExperience carrying out site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observationsExperience reviewing RAMS and supporting Permit-to-Work arrangementsPractical incident investigation and corrective action experienceGood understanding of contractor and subcontractor HSE managementStrong communication and influencing skills with the confidence to challenge unsafe practicesAbility to operate effectively within a fast-paced, international project environmentFlexibility to be based in Finland for the project Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't): Previous data centre or mission-critical project experienceExperience working on European construction or engineering projectsM&E or Building Services project experienceExposure to high-risk activities including lifting operations, working at height, electrical works and commissioningKnowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to develop or strengthen their European data centre experience, with potential exposure to further international projects as the wider project portfolio develops.
