Lead Mechanical Designer

Location: Helsinki (on-site) Lead Mechanical Designer – Temet (Helsinki, Finland) Temet is a leading developer, manufacturer, and supplier of blast protection, CBRNE protection, and ventilation solutions, and a recognized expert in protective structures. Temet is seeking a Lead Mechanical Designer to drive R&D success and support business strategy, customer needs, and long-term competitiveness. The role covers the full development cycle, from ideation through design, testing, and validation, of new products such as blast, CBRNE, and ventilation solutions. The person will be part of the R&D and Offering team, contributing to growth by securing innovation and ensuring products meet targeted quality, delivery, and cost levels. Key responsibilities: End to end execution of Product Development gate model projects. Analyzing customer requirements and defining product specifications. NPD design using CAD software and PDM systems. Basic and FEM calculations to verify safety and functionality. Planning product improvement projects to maintain quality and competitiveness. Identifying ideas for new products based on market needs. Collaborating with universities on new concepts. Executing technology projects from concept to validation. Testing and validation with accurate reporting. Partnering with operations, sales, and marketing on product launches. Designing for manufacturing and cost efficiency. Delivering internal and external training. Working with Operations to improve materials and production methods. Maintaining records of design iterations, specifications, and regulatory compliance. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field. Three to five years of hands-on experience in product development or R&D. Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred), familiarity with FEA and PDM tools. Understanding of DFM and GD&T. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. · Fluent English, good skills in Finnish.
