Master thesis: Utilizing AI to enhance work efficiency

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Master’s thesis student, you will work closely with experienced Bid Management colleagues to investigate how artificial intelligence can improve efficiency in a large industrial organization. Your days will combine learning how current business processes work, identifying recurring challenges and opportunities, exploring relevant AI applications, and testing ideas together with the team.

You will be surrounded by supportive and highly motivated colleagues in a professional, collaborative, and easy-going atmosphere. The team will help you navigate complex situations, provide access to relevant knowledge and stakeholders, and encourage you to challenge established ways of working.

The thesis shall identify practical pathways for improving selected Bid Management processes, with attention to efficiency, quality, transparency, and responsible use of AI. Example of a potential research question: How can AI be used to enhance Bid Management efficiency in a large industrial firm?

Your work will result in a practical guide or playbook that explains where and how AI can support Bid Management processes, summarizes lessons learned from the study, and recommends suitable next steps for continued development.

How You’ll Make An Impact

Take ownership of the thesis project, structure the work, and drive it forward in close dialogue with your academic supervisor and Siemens Energy stakeholders. Map selected Bid Management processes and identify activities where AI could reduce manual effort, improve quality, or support better decisions. Evaluate relevant AI methods and applications, considering feasibility, business value, data needs, risks, and responsible use. Develop and, where appropriate, test practical concepts or ways of working together with Bid Management colleagues. Document findings, decisions, and lessons learned in a clear and process-oriented manner. Deliver a practical AI playbook and recommendations that can support future improvement initiatives within Bid Management.

What You Bring

You are pursuing a relevant Master’s degree and have a strong academic record. You understand how organizational business processes are designed, analyzed, and improved. You have knowledge of AI capabilities and applications and are motivated to translate technical possibilities into practical business value. You bring relevant practical experience from projects, studies, or work and can apply structured methods to an open-ended challenge. You are proactive, curious, and comfortable testing new approaches while applying critical thinking to evidence, limitations, and risks. You are communicative, collaborative, and able to drive progress in demanding situations, with professional English skills in both speech and writing.

You may include your thesis proposal describing how you plan the intended outcomes, feel free to elaborate on your capabilities and techniques. This should not repeat your CV and should not exceed 500 words (1 A4 page).
