Product Engineer, Playground & Sports Equipment Lappset Group | Rovaniemi At Lappset, we create inspiring environments for play and physical activity for people of all ages. We design and manufacture innovative playground and outdoor exercise equipment that promotes well-being around the world. Our headquarters are located in Rovaniemi, Finland, and we operate internationally across several countries. At Lappset, we value collaboration, creativity and continuous development, and we believe that meaningful work and a playful mindset go hand in hand. Join us in creating the next generation of playgrounds! We are looking for a Product Engineer, Playground & Sports Equipment to join our R&D team in Rovaniemi in a permanent position. Are you a technically skilled engineer who enjoys turning ideas into real products? Do you want to take ownership of product development projects, combine hands-on engineering with project coordination and see the results of your work in playgrounds and outdoor activity spaces around the world? At Lappset, you will have the opportunity to work on meaningful products that inspire movement, play and well-being across generations. Your role As a Product Engineer, you will join our 10-person R&D team in Rovaniemi and contribute to the entire product development process, from initial concepts and mechanical design to prototyping, testing and manufacturing. You will combine technical design work with project management responsibilities. Approximately 70% of your work will focus on engineering and product development, while around 30% will involve coordinating and driving projects forward. Depending on your experience and strengths, the balance may evolve over time. Your key responsibilities will include: Designing and developing playground and outdoor sports equipment from initial concepts to finished products. Taking ownership of product development projects, including planning, scheduling, coordination and progress monitoring. Creating 3D models, assemblies and technical manufacturing drawings. Collaborating closely with concept designers, product management, production and prototyping teams. Participating in prototype development, product testing and pilot installations. Ensuring that products meet technical requirements, safety standards and manufacturing needs. Contributing ideas, solving technical challenges and continuously improving our products and development processes. One of the most rewarding aspects of this position is the opportunity to work on complete product development projects rather than focusing on a single component or detail. You will see how your ideas develop into tangible products and ultimately reach playgrounds and outdoor environments around the world. What we expect from you We are looking for an engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a proactive mindset and an interest in taking responsibility for projects. To succeed in this role, we expect you to have: At least three years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, product development, structural design or a related field. Experience in 3D mechanical design and technical documentation. We primarily use SolidWorks, but experience with other comparable design software is also welcome. Project management or project coordination experience, or a strong understanding of working in project-based environments. The ability to independently plan, organize and drive technical projects forward. A practical, solution-oriented approach and an interest in working closely with production and prototyping. Good collaboration and communication skills across different teams and functions. Good English language skills, including the ability to communicate in writing and work in an international environment. Willingness to work at our Rovaniemi office. We consider experience in product innovation, manufacturing processes and playground or sports equipment safety standards, such as EN 1176 and EN 1177, an advantage. Finnish language skills are appreciated but not required. Above all, we value your willingness to learn, take responsibility and develop innovative technical solutions. You do not need previous experience in the playground equipment industry. We will help you become familiar with our products and industry-specific requirements. What we offer you At Lappset, you will join an experienced and collaborative R&D team where your expertise, ideas and initiative can make a real difference. We offer you: Meaningful and creative engineering work: Develop products that inspire play, movement and well-being worldwide. Ownership and responsibility: Take part in the full product development journey and influence how ideas become finished products. A hands-on development environment: Work close to our production facilities, prototype workshop and testing laboratory in Rovaniemi. An international working environment: Collaborate with colleagues across departments and countries, with occasional opportunities to travel and participate in pilot installations. A supportive team and opportunities to grow: Develop your technical and project management expertise alongside experienced professionals. Flexibility and work-life balance: Benefit from flexible working arrangements and opportunities for hybrid work in accordance with our company practices. A playful and collaborative culture: Work in an environment where we take responsibility, support each other and celebrate successes together. And perhaps the best part? You will help create the next generation of playgrounds. That is something worth talking about! Interested? Apply now! We look forward to hearing from you!
