Based in Brussels, our Client represents the interests of the profession before the European institutions, promotes the EN 16636 service standard, drives the professionalisation of the sector and advocates for responsible pest management in the service of public health, food safety and the protection of property (One Health approach).
Purpose of the roleWithin the Secretariat, the postholder fulfils a cross-functional role combining three complementary dimensions:Secretariat & coordination: smooth administrative, organisational and associative running of this European association.Communication: visibility and consistency of this European association's messages towards members and external stakeholders.Public affairs: monitoring, follow-up and support of the sector's European regulatory advocacy. The role is ideal for a versatile, rigorous and results-oriented profile, comfortable in a multicultural European association environment.
Duties and responsibilitiesSecretariat & association coordination:Handle the day-to-day administrative management of the Secretariat (calendar, correspondence, membership and fee follow-up).Organise statutory meetings (General Assembly, Council, Board) and working groups: convening notices, agendas, logistics, minutes and follow-up of actions.Manage relations with members (national associations, companies, certifying bodies) and act as a reliable and responsive point of contact.Support the preparation of the association events (assemblies, conferences, PestWorld / European Forum, webinars).Contribute to budget monitoring, supplier management and the proper keeping of the association's records. Communication:Roll out and implement association's communication strategy in line with its priorities.Produce and coordinate content: newsletters, press releases, articles, key messages, annual reports and institutional materials (EN).Manage the digital channels: website, LinkedIn and other networks, with monitoring of performance indicators.Ensure the consistency of association's brand, tone and visual identity across all materials.Promote the sector's flagship initiatives (EN 16636 standard, IPM Academy, professionalisation, One Health) among internal and external audiences.Handle press relations and first-level media enquiries. Public affairs & advocacy:Ensure European regulatory and policy monitoring (Commission, Parliament, Council) on the sector's files: biocides (Regulation (EU) 528/2012), use of rodenticides and insecticides, animal welfare, PFAS/REACH, sustainability (CSRD), public health.Follow public consultations, legislative procedures and key deadlines, and alert the Secretariat and governing bodies in a timely manner.Contribute to drafting position papers, advocacy notes, consultation responses and “Association-ready” talking points.Support relations with the European institutions, partners (EU associations) and the sector's stakeholders.Support association's representation at meetings, hearings and institutional events in Brussels and across Europe.
Candidate profileEducation and experienceHigher education (Bachelor's to Master's level) in communication, public/European affairs, political science, international relations or an equivalent field.At least 3 to 5 years' experience in a similar role: professional association, European federation, public affairs consultancy, NGO or institution.Knowledge of how the European institutions work and of the EU legislative cycle.An interest in or experience with a technical/regulated sector (health, environment, food, biocides) is an asset. Skills and know-howExcellent writing and summarising skills in English.Command of digital communication and office tools (CMS, social media, Office suite, newsletter tools; design/Canva notions a plus).Ability to manage several files in parallel, strong organisation and respect for deadlines.Interpersonal ease and diplomacy in a multicultural, multi-stakeholder environment. LanguagesEnglish: fluent, both written and spoken (working language).A second EU language (French, German, Italian, Spanish, etc.) is strongly appreciated.
