Senior IT Program Manager – Retail Transformation (Freelance)
Take the lead in a major retail IT transformation
For an ongoing transformation program at one of Sweden's leading retail organizations, we are looking for an experienced Senior IT Program Manager to take a key leadership role in the next phase of the program.
The transformation covers business-critical store technology, including checkout and POS solutions, back-office systems and digital applications supporting employees across the store organization.
You will initially help establish and structure the next program phase and subsequently take responsibility for the overall IT delivery throughout implementation.
What You Will Do
Define and establish the scope, implementation roadmap and governance for the next program phaseTake overall responsibility for IT delivery across multiple projects and workstreamsLead and coordinate project managers, architects, vendors and key stakeholdersManage scope, budget, timelines, milestones, risks and cross-project dependenciesPrepare decision material, forecasts and reporting for program management and steering committeesDrive progress and create clarity in a complex and evolving transformation environmentSupport the transition from planning into full-scale implementation
What We Are Looking For
10+ years of experience in senior IT program or project managementProven experience leading large and business-critical IT transformation programsExperience managing multiple parallel projects, teams and vendorsStrong background in budget, risk and dependency managementExperience working with steering committees and senior managementStrong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skillsFluent Swedish and English
Extensive hands-on program/project management experience in large and complex IT transformations is the key requirement for this role.
Assignment Details
Start: ASAP / October 2026
Duration: Initially until December 2027, with possible extension
Scope: Full-time
Location: Stockholm – minimum Monday to Wednesday onsite, ideally more
Contract type: Freelance
