Senior Software Engineer (Golang)

Summary Remote Crew is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Go (Golang) and infrastructure expertise to design and scale distributed systems powering conversational AI experiences for large enterprise retailers. This role combines backend development with DevOps responsibilities, requiring someone who can build reliable services, manage infrastructure-as-code, and collaborate closely with product, AI, and frontend teams to deliver scalable, customer-facing features in a fast-moving environment. Salary: €60k – €80k per yearLocation: Remote-first in Europe What You'll Do Design, build and maintain distributed backend systems using Go and cloud infrastructure (AWS)Develop and scale services using Kafka, Postgres, DynamoDB and other cloud-native technologiesDefine, implement and manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform for cloud resource provisioningDesign, deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters for containerized application orchestrationBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, frequent deploymentsCollaborate with product, AI and frontend teams to deliver scalable customer-facing featuresOwn key parts of platform infrastructure including messaging orchestration, data pipelines and deployment systemsEnsure reliability, observability and operational excellence across servicesDefine and track performance metrics to improve system performance and business outcomesImplement security best practices and compliance requirements in infrastructure designContribute to code reviews, mentor teammates and promote engineering best practices What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience in software engineering roles building backend or distributed systemsStrong experience with Go (Golang) for backend service developmentHands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code (mandatory)Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration (mandatory)Solid experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and servicesExperience with event-driven architectures and technologies (Kafka, Postgres, DynamoDB)Strong understanding of system design, concurrency and data consistencyProven experience in DevOps or infrastructure engineering rolesExperience working in fast-paced or startup environmentsSolid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automationFluent English and strong communication skills in distributed teamsFrontend experience (React, TypeScript) or Python knowledge - nice to haveBackground as a security engineer - nice to haveExperience with compliance certifications (ISO, SOC 2) - nice to haveKnowledge of security best practices and infrastructure hardening - nice to have
