🚀 Embedded Engineer – U-Boot / Cortex-A | Remote Europe | Outside IR35 An industry leading SemiConductor client is looking for a senior experienced Embedded Engineer for a long-term contract working fully from home (you can work from anywhere in Europe) on the porting of U-Boot to a next-generation SoC. This is a genuinely low-level role — ideal for someone who enjoys working close to the hardware and has experience with U-Boot, bootloaders, Cortex-A, or high-end RZ/MPUs. The opportunity🌍 Fully remote – work from anywhere in Europe📄 Long-term contract 🇬🇧 Outside IR35💰 Competitive / high day rate🎯 One-stage interview process🔧 Work directly on a next-generation SoC and boot platform What you'll be doingThe core focus is porting and bringing up U-Boot on a new SoC, working across the boot chain and supporting the platform from early bring-up through verification.You'll be working with areas such as: U-Boot and bootloader firmwareBL2 / BL3Cortex-A / high-end MPU architecturesBoard Support Packages (BSPs)Device TreeARM GIC / TrustZoneSPI flash, MMC/SDHI and USBClock trees and pin multiplexingHardware bring-up and debugging What we're looking forEssential:Strong Embedded C / low-level development experienceCommercial U-Boot development experienceExperience with bootloader firmware, ideally BL2 / BL3Strong understanding of embedded Linux / ARM-based platforms Highly desirable:Renesas RZ / high-end MPU experienceARM Cortex-AARM TF-AYocto / Linux build systemsDevice TreeLinux kernel debuggingHardware debugging — schematics, oscilloscopes, signal verificationGit / GitLab and JIRAPythonMISRA / static analysisStrong software testing background You don't need to tick every box.
