Temporary Consulting Assignment | Employed by Barona IT TalentWe are looking for a Senior Telecom Core Network Expert to join a demanding international network audit project through Barona IT Talent. This is a temporary, project-based assignment supporting a leading telecom consultancy in a mobile core network performance audit. The role is ideal for an experienced consultant, freelancer, or senior telecom professional looking for an interesting short-term engagement with high-impact work. About the AssignmentYou will support a team conducting a comprehensive audit of a mobile operator's core network environment. Your role is to act as a senior subject matter expert, helping identify bottlenecks, analyze root causes, and provide concrete technical recommendations.The project is expected to start during October and run for approximately two months. The work can be performed primarily remotely, with potential limited travel if required. We are open to finding:One expert with both PS Core and CS Core expertise, or Two specialists covering the respective domains separately. ResponsibilitiesDepending on your area of expertise, your work may include: PS Core Network AuditAuditing GPRS/EPC core network architecture and performanceAnalyzing SGSN, MME, GGSN, SGW and PGW performanceAssessing interfaces, capacity, redundancy and securityEvaluating DNS and IP backbone implementationsReviewing legacy and cloud-native core deploymentsInvestigating alarms, faults, logs and performance KPIsAnalyzing user mobility and session management performance CS Core Network AuditAuditing Circuit Switched Core architecture and topologyAssessing MSC, MGW, HLR, HSS and related core elementsReviewing traffic routing principles and signalling performanceAnalyzing capacity, utilization and service quality KPIsEvaluating virtualized and legacy core implementationsSupporting fault analysis and network optimization recommendations You will work closely with experienced audit professionals while providing expert guidance throughout the analysis and reporting phases. What We Are Looking For We expect you to have: Extensive experience with mobile core networks (2G/3G/4G/5G environments)Strong expertise in either PS Core, CS Core, or bothKnowledge of both legacy and virtualized/cloud-based core network architecturesProven ability to identify network issues, bottlenecks and performance challengesStrong analytical and troubleshooting capabilitiesPrevious experience in telecom consulting, auditing, or operator network assessmentsAbility to work independently and provide actionable recommendationsProfessional-level English communication skills Experience working directly with mobile operators is considered a strong advantage.
