Company Description The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland is the largest religious community in the country, with around 3.5 million members and more than 350 parishes nationwide. Church communications provide up-to-date information to the media and the public, supported by channels such as the Church’s website and various media services. Role Description The Tiedottaja (Communications Officer) is a full-time, on-site role based in Kajaani. In this position, the Tiedottaja plans and produces timely and accurate communications about parish activities, events, and initiatives for internal and external audiences. Daily tasks include drafting press releases, writing articles, managing website and social media content, and coordinating information flow between the parish, local media, and other Church units. The role also involves developing communication plans, supporting leadership and staff with messaging, and ensuring that communications reflect the Church’s mission, values, and language guidelines. The Tiedottaja collaborates closely with clergy, parish workers, and other communications professionals to promote transparent, inclusive, and respectful public communication. Qualifications Ability to produce clear, engaging written materials, including Writing and Press Releases.Strong Communication skills for internal and external audiences, including collaboration across diverse teams.Experience or knowledge in Strategic Communications, including planning and implementing communication strategies.Competence in Media Relations, including working with journalists, responding to inquiries, and organizing media information.Relevant educational background in communications, journalism, media studies, or a related field.Understanding of the role and values of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, and readiness to communicate about church life and Christian traditions in a neutral and respectful way.Good proficiency in Finnish; Swedish and English skills are an advantage.Ability to work independently
