WE ARE LOOKING FOR BACKEND SOFTWARE ENGINEER (PYTHON/C++)

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join the team developing Unikie Marshalling, a vehicle fleet management system for autonomous vehicle operations. The project offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of software and automotive technology, alongside automotive OEMs and vehicle operators, and contribute to technology being shaped for real-world use.

You will be part of a small, self-organizing international team working across Finland and Poland. The role offers a high degree of ownership and the opportunity to contribute to an evolving technology in a flexible, fast-moving environment.

Main Responsibilities

Design and implement new features for the vehicle fleet management system. Develop and maintain backend functionality primarily in Python, while working with substantial C++ components.Investigate and resolve defects and integration issues across the system.Contribute to frontend development when needed. Take features from technical design through implementation, testing, and maintenance.Test and validate software in development environments and with real vehicles.Collaborate with internal teams, automotive OEMs, and vehicle operators.Use AI-assisted development tools where they add value, applying human review and testing to the resulting code.Support testing sessions, business syncs, and occasional customer-site installation and testing.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Hands-on professional experience developing and maintaining backend software with Python.Practical experience reading, debugging, and modifying C++ code in an existing production codebase.Proven ability to investigate software issues using logs, debugging tools, tests, and structured root-cause analysis.Ability to make pragmatic technical design decisions that balance performance, reliability, and maintainability.Ability to use AI-assisted coding tools critically and responsibly, reviewing and validating generated output.Ability to work independently and communicate technical decisions clearly in a small, self-organizing team.

CONSIDERED AN ADVANTAGE
