Role

As a Controls Software Development Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining the controls software behind Swisslog's automated intralogistics solutions. With a primary focus on pallet storage systems, you will help create reliable, scalable, and high-quality controls software that drives automation performance and supports the continuous evolution of our product portfolio. In this role, you will:

Develop, maintain, and continuously improve PLC-based controls software for Swisslog's automation solutions, with a primary focus on pallet storage applications.Create, maintain, and improve configurable software libraries and reusable components.Support the design, implementation, and validation of engineering solutions.Perform software testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality performance and reliability.Identify software defects, analyze root causes, and contribute to corrective actions.Contribute to engineering standards, specifications, and development best practices.Prepare technical documentation, reports, and development-related materials.

Continuously improve your technical capabilities through training, coaching, and hands-on experience.

Application Requirements

What you need to succeed

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent higher education qualification in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.Relevant professional experience in software development or controls engineering in intralogistics or similar automation industries.Strong automation and PLC programming skills, ideally Siemens TIA Portal with Structured Text.Knowledge of software development principles, testing methodologies, and troubleshooting techniques.Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and collaborate with electrical engineering teams.A structured and analytical approach to problem-solving and strong attention to quality and continuous improvement.Fluent English communication skills.
