Core Systems Engineer - Rust/Terminal Infrastructure

CORE SYSTEMS ENGINEER — RUST / TERMINAL INFRASTRUCTURE My client is an open-source runtime for running, supervising and connecting coding agents across machines. In roughly five months, my client has reached 40k GitHub stars and close to one million downloads. We recently raised a $6M seed led by Bessemer, with Y Combinator and strategic angels. We’re looking for a full-time core engineer to work directly with the Founder. What they’ll own:- Client's Rust runtime and terminal interface- PTYs, processes, signals, sessions and terminal state- Issue triage, debugging and reviewing community PRs- Cross-platform reliability across Linux, macOS and Windows- Deterministic tests and harnesses for difficult terminal behaviour- Gradually taking meaningful ownership of releases and the OSS repository What we need:- Strong production Rust and systems-engineering experience- Deep comfort with terminals and Unix process behaviour- Relevant work around PTYs, terminal emulators, multiplexers, shells, SSH, remote development or adjacent systems- Experience debugging async, concurrent and cross-platform behaviour- Evidence of strong technical judgment through shipped work or meaningful OSS contributions- Comfortable using coding agents while independently questioning and verifying their output We don’t need general Rust/backend profiles, the terminal and systems connection needs to be real.
