Director of Engineering

A global Software Consultancy are seeking a Director of Engineering to join them in designing and leading the strategy and vision of their Engineering department. Our client are a global IT & Business Consultancy at the forefront of digital transformation, helping BlueChip companies, Government agencies, and fast-growing enterprises re-imagine their operations, customer experience, and products through innovative technologies. As they expand, they're looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead and scale their engineering teams during demanding project deliverables, ensure technical excellence, and drive successful client outcomes. Requirements 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ in leadership roles.Proven experience leading engineering teams in a consultancy or agency environment.An advocate for Servant Leader Principalsexperience with overseeing reports of + 30 EngineersStrong knowledge of modern web and cloud technologies (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, Node.js, AWS/GCP/Azure).Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (German and/or English).Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and software delivery lifecycles.Experience working with clients in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, etc.).Experience is scaling Engineering teams for long-term projectsFluency in both German and English. Key ResponsibilitiesDefine and execute the engineering vision in alignment with business goals.Lead and scale high-performing engineering teams across multiple projects.Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.Oversee software architecture, development standards, and best practices.Review and support key technical decisions across projects.Ensure quality, security, scalability, and performance in all deliverables.Act as a technical advisor to clients, helping shape product and architecture decisions.Support project scoping, planning, and estimation in collaboration with delivery teams.Ensure successful delivery of consultancy engagements on time and within budget.Hire, mentor, and grow engineering talent, including team leads and individual contributors.Must have a strong Engineering backgroundExcellent English communication skills
