Director of Product Engineering - relocation

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria - relocation will be needed if you are not based in Sofia The OpportunityWe are supporting an established B2B sports technology business as it enters an important phase of product and operational transformation. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who works closely with engineers, understands technical decisions and can turn operator requirements into clearly defined, commercially valuable releases. It is not a purely strategic or roadmap-focused product role.You will take ownership of the complete product development lifecycle, from early-stage ideas and technical specifications through to testing, release and operator adoption.Key responsibilities will include:Leading and developing the product team, setting clear standards for ownership and executionWorking alongside R&D on a daily basis to define requirements, technical trade-offs and delivery prioritiesEstablishing an AI-first product operating model across specification, rapid prototyping, validation and documentationExpanding the platform’s backend functionality, including areas such as live betting, cash-out, bet builders, personalisation and settlementImproving API coverage, versioning, documentation and the overall developer experienceConducting a detailed capability assessment against leading sportsbook products and translating identified gaps into a sequenced delivery planOwning roadmap prioritisation in collaboration with engineering, trading, commercial teams and operatorsEvaluating product scope against commercial value, technical complexity and revenue potential You will be a strong match if you:Have led technical product development in Sportsbook / Casino Platform provider while embedded directly within engineering or R&D teamsHave built or managed product teams and improved the processes through which software is designed and deliveredBring deeper experience than high-level business product management or coordinating external technology suppliersAlready use AI tools as part of product discovery, specification, prototyping, validation or deliveryHave a practical perspective on how product management should evolve as AI-assisted engineering becomes more prominent
