The Role

As an Engineering Manager, Foundations at Legora, you'll lead the team responsible for the core backend services and systems at the heart of our platform. You'll architect and deliver the high-scale services that power legal professionals' workflows every day, drive technical excellence at the foundation layer, and help shape a platform relied on by forward-thinking law firms around the world. This is a role for someone who thrives on owning complex, critical systems and loves to build, mentor, and scale both people and software.

What You Will Be Doing

Lead and grow a team of backend engineers hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers at all levelsOwn team health: keep your team efficient, unblocked, and set up to do their best workSet the technical bar: drive code quality, security, and system design standards across the teamDesign and implement high-scale core backend services and APIs that power the entire Legora platformContribute directly to the codebase while supporting the growth of your teamLead architecture discussions and technical decision-making on foundational systemsSet and uphold high standards in code quality, security, and system designCollaborate closely with product engineering teams to provide robust, well-designed foundations they can build on confidentlyReview code, give feedback, and mentor engineers at all levelsChampion best practices in backend engineering, service design, and continuous improvementWork with Node.js, Azure, AWS and Kubernetes

Background as a seasoned full-stack / backend engineer with 1–3 years of leadership experienceStrong communicator who leads with empathy and clarity — passionate about mentoring others and helping teams growDeep experience building and operating high-scale distributed systems and core platform services, with end-to-end ownership from design through production reliabilityTakes pride in building systems that others depend on, and holds a high bar for correctness and resilienceProactively and independently solves the most pressing problemsThrives in a fast-paced environment where the answers aren't always clear and processes are fewBut most importantly: someone who gets stuff done, and understands that building a successful company takes real hard work and isn't always glamorous

This is a Stockholm-based, 5-day in-office role — we believe building together in person drives better outcomes.
