Life & Annuity Specialist Type: Freelance Hourly Contract Compensation: $80/hour Location: Remote About the OpportunityMercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to develop high-quality insurance reasoning data for next-generation AI systems. We are seeking experienced Life & Annuity Specialists to create realistic insurance scenarios, evaluate complex policy situations, and assess model-generated recommendations against industry standards.This role is ideal for professionals with expertise in life insurance, annuities, underwriting, policy administration, suitability review, and financial protection planning.You'll apply your knowledge of insurance products, underwriting principles, policy mechanics, and regulatory requirements to evaluate complex insurance scenarios, review recommendations, and support the development of high-quality insurance reasoning systems.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign realistic life insurance and annuity scenarios involving underwriting, policy servicing, suitability reviews, replacements, and product recommendations.Create and evaluate work products such as coverage recommendations, underwriting assessments, illustration comparisons, and policy-service determinations.Develop high-quality reference responses based on industry best practices.Review generated outputs for product accuracy, suitability, compliance, and mathematical correctness.Identify errors related to product selection, policy mechanics, underwriting decisions, disclosures, and tax treatment.Provide structured written feedback to improve quality and consistency.Participate in onboarding sessions and calibration exercises.Required Qualifications2+ years of professional experience in life insurance, annuity services, underwriting, policy administration, product management, advisory services, or suitability review.Experience working with one or more product categories, including:Term Life InsuranceWhole Life InsuranceUniversal Life InsuranceIndexed Universal Life Insurance (IUL)Variable Life InsuranceFixed, Indexed, or Variable AnnuitiesStrong understanding of policy mechanics, guarantees, riders, surrender charges, and underwriting considerations.Ability to explain suitability and tax-related considerations clearly and accurately.Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.Preferred QualificationsCLU, ChFC, FLMI, CFP, or similar industry designation.Active or previous Life & Health Insurance License.Securities registrations or investment-related licensing experience.Medical or financial underwriting experience.Experience with estate planning, executive benefits, premium financing, buy-sell agreements, or key-person insurance.Familiarity with suitability reviews, replacement regulations, Reg BI, and disclosure requirements.Compensation.$80/hour following onboarding completion.Weekly payments.Independent contractor engagement.Application ProcessSubmit Your ApplicationComplete the Onboarding ProcessParticipate in Calibration & Evaluation SessionsBegin Project Work Upon ApprovalAdditional DetailsMinimum commitment of 20 hours per week preferred.Immediate start available.Applications reviewed on a rolling basis.Fully remote and flexible work schedule.
