This role is for an experienced producer to lead the development and production of a feature-length documentary that builds upon an existing short film. The project explores the iconic “Rosebud” motif from Citizen Kane, delving into its historical and cultural ties to the oil industry, automotive manufacturing, and the multifaceted uses of hemp, including its relevance in glaucoma medication, alternative fuels, and plastics. The documentary aims to weave together investigative research, compelling storytelling, and cinematic vision to create a thought-provoking narrative. The position is based in Stockholm with a hybrid work arrangement and may require travel for research and filming. This is a long-term, ongoing personal project with creative autonomy and the opportunity to shape the film’s direction from early development through to completion.

Deliverables

Develop a comprehensive production plan and timeline for the feature-length documentary Oversee all stages of production, from research and pre-production through post-production and delivery Collaborate closely with the director and author to expand the short feature into a full-length narrative Coordinate logistics for hybrid work in Stockholm and manage travel arrangements as needed Source and manage crew, locations, and equipment for shoots Supervise budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure project milestones are met Facilitate communication between creative, technical, and administrative teams Ensure the documentary maintains high production values and aligns with the creative vision

Requirements

Proven experience producing feature-length documentaries or similar long-form projects Strong background in research-driven storytelling and documentary filmmaking Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to oversee complex, multi-phase productions Familiarity with topics related to film history, industrial history, and scientific/medical research is highly desirable Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, with flexibility for travel Proficiency in budgeting, scheduling, and resource management for documentary projects Strong communication and leadership skills Based in or able to work regularly in Stockholm
