Product Manager — Scientific SoftwareRemote — Europe based We are supporting the hire of a Product Manager for a specialist software business working at the intersection of biotechnology, modelling, and data. The product is used in biopharma environments where users are dealing with complex experimental data, process behaviour, and scientific decision-making. That makes this a very different proposition from a standard SaaS PM role. You are not simply deciding where a button should sit or which backlog item comes next; you need to understand what users are trying to achieve scientifically, where the real friction sits, and how that should translate into a usable product. This person will work closely with a small cross-functional team and will be expected to get involved throughout the product lifecycle. That includes understanding customer problems, shaping the solution, working through technical questions with engineering and scientific specialists, and staying close to the feature once it moves into development and release. There is a strong discovery element to the role. Customers and internal experts may describe problems in technical or scientific terms, and part of the job is to separate the underlying need from the initial solution being requested. The right person will be comfortable asking questions, challenging assumptions, and creating enough clarity for the wider team to move forward. You would be involved in areas such as:Speaking with customers and internal experts to understand how the product is being usedIdentifying recurring problems and opportunities across scientific workflowsShaping feature ideas before they reach developmentWorking with engineering and design to define practical solutionsCreating clear product documentation and requirements for complex functionalityHelping prioritise work based on customer value, strategic fit, and technical effortReviewing how released features perform and where they need improvementWorking closely with scientific and machine-learning specialists where product decisions depend on model behaviour or domain knowledgeSupporting customer-facing material that explains the value of new capabilities The background we are looking for:Early-career experience in software product management, ideally within B2B SaaSEnough scientific depth to work confidently with technically sophisticated users and specialistsExposure to areas such as bioinformatics, systems biology, bioprocessing, computational biology, or related fieldsExperience working with software engineers and translating user needs into something development teams can act onStrong judgement when dealing with competing requests and incomplete informationClear written communication and the ability to explain complex ideas simplyA collaborative style and willingness to change direction when the evidence supports a better approachComfort operating in a remote environment with a high level of personal responsibility This role should suit someone who wants to move beyond being a coordinator and become more involved in the actual thinking behind the product.
