The Department of Biology and Environmental Science is part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Research within this multidisciplinary department includes aquatic ecology, cell and organism biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, environmental science, environmental engineering, disease ecology, animal welfare science and didactics.

Job Description

You will work with planning and conducting experiments within two projects. One focuses on the purification of PFAS-contaminated water using different types of biochar, with an emphasis on identifying which biochar properties are most important for treatment efficiency. The other project investigates the uptake of metals in cultivated food crops.

Your work will involve both fieldwork and various types of laboratory work and chemical analyses. In addition, you will assist the project leader with the compilation, analysis, and interpretation of experimental data, as well as contribute to the dissemination of research findings results in scientific publications.

Requirements

A PhD degree focused on the spread of contaminants and/or the remediation of contaminated environmental matrices (soil, water, or sediment). As the working language is English, you must be able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English. Experience in fieldwork, as well as experience working with various laboratory methods and techniques, is required.

Meritorious

Driver’s license (B, passenger cars)

Additional research experience after completing PhD, within research projects relevant to this call.

Employment and scope: The employment is temporary for eleven months at part time (50%).
