Senior BI Data Engineer - Data Analytics & Reporting Solutions (European Institution via Unisys)About the Opportunity Our client, a major European institution supporting research, innovation and evidence-based policymaking across Europe, is seeking a Senior BI Data Engineer to contribute to the development and evolution of its data management, business intelligence and analytics capabilities. You will join an international and multicultural environment responsible for managing data originating from corporate grant-management systems and delivering data products and services that support policy design, monitoring, transparency and regulatory requirements. The team also contributes to maximising the impact of research and innovation projects funded through European grants. Role Overview As a Senior BI Data Engineer, you will design, develop and maintain business intelligence, data integration, reporting and analytics solutions.The role combines data engineering, BI development and architecture responsibilities. You will work with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, implement ETL/ELT workflows, design analytical data models, support the evolution of modern data warehouses, and deliver reliable dashboards and reporting solutions.You will operate in an environment where strong work ethics, diligence, responsibility and discretion are essential, particularly when handling personal or confidential information. Key Responsibilities Create and maintain Business Intelligence solutions.Gather and analyse business requirements for data pipelines, data storage and reporting solutions.Gather and analyse requirements for analytics, data integration and monitoring solutions supporting operational and policy needs.Contribute to the design of modern BI and analytics architectures.Support data warehouse migration strategies and the evolution of scalable analytical platforms.Contribute to storage design, performance optimisation, physical design and capacity planning.Identify, collect, convert and update data from multiple sources and locations.Design, develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes and orchestration workflows.Design and implement data models supporting reporting, monitoring, reconciliation and analytical use cases.Develop reporting and data-visualisation applications.Create dashboards, KPIs and analytical outputs for business stakeholders.Contribute to the implementation of the analytics solution stack.Ensure consistency across data processing, reporting and business intelligence components.Perform data analysis, processing, reconciliation and transformation.Ensure that analytical datasets and outputs are reliable, consistent and usable.Support unit testing and validation of BI and data-processing components.Produce and maintain technical and user documentation.Document data flows, architecture, reporting solutions and operational procedures.Collaborate with other project teams to manage dependencies and ensure alignment across data and reporting solutions. Profile Requirements Mandatory Qualifications University degree corresponding to Level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework, typically equivalent to a Master’s degree or five years of higher education.Minimum 15 years of professional IT experience.Very good command of English or French, both written and spoken, at B2 level or higher. Business Intelligence & Data Engineering Experience Experience creating and maintaining enterprise Business Intelligence solutions.Experience gathering and analysing business and technical requirements.Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes.Experience integrating and transforming data from multiple sources.Experience designing analytical data models.Experience developing dashboards, KPIs and reporting applications.Experience with data analysis, reconciliation and transformation.Experience contributing to modern data warehouse architectures.Experience supporting the migration or evolution of data warehouse solutions.Experience performing unit testing for BI and data-processing components.Experience producing technical and user documentation. Required Technical Knowledge Excellent knowledge of business intelligence and reporting tools.Excellent knowledge of data analytics techniques and tools.Strong expertise in data visualisation tools and dashboard development.Good knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data integration tools.Good knowledge of SQL and related data-querying technologies.Understanding of NoSQL concepts.Knowledge of the architectural design and implementation of scalable, modern data warehouses.Understanding of analytics architecture, including performance, physical design and capacity considerations.Understanding of data visualisation principles and semiotic approaches.Knowledge of testing and validation practices for data and BI solutions. Preferred Qualifications A Business Intelligence or Data Visualisation certification would be considered an asset.
