At Finago, we’re setting a new standard for financial & human resources software across the Nordics. Our mission? To become the most customer-centric business software company out there! We’re now looking for a Senior Data Engineer who wants to take ownership of the data platform that powers our machine learning products and help shape the next generation of our product. Your mission? 🚀 Our software is a critical infrastructure for small and medium businesses across the Nordics. Our machine learning products, such as our accounting prediction system, help them get routine work done faster and with fewer errors. Behind every prediction is data that is reliable, well-structured, and available at the right moment. We’ve laid the groundwork: our Databricks lakehouse is in place, core data models are built, basic governance is set up, and the first ML product has already moved its model development onto the platform. Now it’s time to roll the platform out across our ML products and take it to the next level. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will own this platform and shape where it goes next. Next on the roadmap, we’re extending our accounting prediction system with a new user interface, which brings plenty of backend and data work for you to drive. This is a hands-on role with real influence: the technical choices you make will shape how we build data and ML products for years to come. 💡 Your key tasks and responsibilities include: Owning and developing our Databricks lakehouse platform, from architecture to day-to-day operations Rolling out the platform across our ML products and supporting teams as they move their data and model development onto it Designing and building robust, scalable data pipelines and data models Building the backend and data solutions behind the new user interface of our accounting prediction system Strengthening data quality, governance, security, and compliance as the platform grows Automating data operations through DevOps and MLOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code Translating business and product needs into practical technical solutions together with product, engineering, and business teams This is a full-time and permanent position reporting directly to the Head of Product, AI and Data. You’ll join a friendly team of around 15 AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and Developers who enjoy solving real problems and sharing knowledge. Our team works in a hybrid way visiting the Espoo office at least once a week, so we hope to see you there as well! 💎 “Finago has been an incredible place for personal and professional growth. I started my journey at the service desk and was supported by every step of the way to finally become a software developer. The culture here truly empowers learning, ambition, and teamwork.” – Mirko Piitulainen, Software Developer Ready to make an impact? 💥 You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy building solid foundations that others can build on, and you care about the business value your work creates. For us, seniority is less about years on your CV and more about how you think and communicate: you see the bigger picture, make sound technical trade-offs, and explain them clearly to both technical and non-technical people. You take ownership from concept to production, are comfortable driving things forward independently, and enjoy helping others grow. Solid hands-on experience in data engineering, ideally including building or running a data platform, gives you a strong foundation for this role. Experience with or curiosity about machine learning is a plus, as you’ll work closely with our Data Scientists and AI Engineers. This role isn’t tied to specific technologies, but we want you to know the tools you’ll encounter: Databricks for our lakehouse, pipelines, ML workflows, and data governance Python and PySpark for data engineering SQL for data modelling and transformations REST APIs for serving AI and predictions to our products Azure for cloud infrastructure and operations GitHub for collaboration and CI/CD Terraform for infrastructure-as-code Docker for containerised workloads You don’t need experience with all of these. Curiosity and solid engineering judgment matter more. Please note, that passing the standard security clearance vetting conducted by the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service is a requirement for employment in this position. The employer begins the security clearance process immediately after both parties have signed the employment contract. Your next step? Apply! 👇 Curious about the role?
