Senior Data Engineer

SENIOR DATA ENGINEER | CONTRACT Velocity Tech has partnered with a growing organisation that is looking to bring on a Senior Data Engineer on a part-time basis. If you’re someone who enjoys building data platforms from scratch, working with APIs and turning messy business data into something genuinely useful, this could be a great opportunity. You’ll be working across a variety of projects covering e-commerce, marketing and B2B data, with plenty of ownership from architecture through to delivery. What you'll be doing 👇🔹 Building and designing BigQuery data warehouses🔹 Developing ETL/ELT pipelines from Shopify, Amazon, GA4, Meta, HubSpot and other business platforms🔹 Integrating and working with APIs and raw business data🔹 Setting up automated data quality checks and monitoring🔹 Managing scheduled data refreshes, error logging and troubleshooting🔹 Preparing data for Power BI and Looker Studio🔹 Working alongside BI developers and stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions🔹 Clearly documenting data models, fields, formulas and assumptions What we're looking for 🔎✅ Strong SQL skills✅ Strong GCP / BigQuery experience✅ Proven experience building ETL/ELT pipelines✅ Experience working with business APIs and integrations✅ Strong understanding of data quality and troubleshooting✅ Git / version control✅ Good documentation and communication skills✅ Good written and spoken English Nice to have:• Microsoft Fabric / Azure SQL / Dataflows• Power BI Service• Looker Studio• Python One important requirement 👇We want to see what you've actually built. You should be able to showcase 2–4 previous projects — ideally data pipelines, data warehouses or API integrations you've designed and delivered end-to-end.You'll need to be comfortable explaining the architecture, technical decisions, data quality approach and challenges you faced.
