Senior Data Engineer

Vertex Agility is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to work on a data platform connecting Knowledge Graphs, Ontology, semantic data, AI systems, and product modules.We’re looking for someone who is strong in data engineering and data modelling and has experience working with Knowledge Graphs, Ontologies, or graph databases. Contract Role: 6 Months with potential extensionLocation: Europe What You’ll Work OnBuild and maintain production data pipelines connecting ontology and knowledge-graph data with downstream product and AI modules.Design canonical data models, schemas and data contracts for shared entities, relationships and taxonomies.Transform semantic/graph data into structured datasets that product engineers, AI engineers and data scientists can consume.Manage schema versioning and ensure ontology/taxonomy changes are propagated safely across downstream systems.Build data-quality and validation frameworks covering completeness, consistency and referential/semantic integrity.Develop integration and regression testing for data and schema changes.Support data pipelines for AI/ML, analytics, agentic and retrieval-based workflows.Work closely with Ontology, Data Science, AI and Product Engineering teams. Required SkillsStrong hands-on experience with Data Engineering, SQL and Python.Production experience building ETL/ELT data pipelines, orchestration and monitoring.Strong knowledge of data modelling and schema design.Experience with AWS or Azure.Experience with relational and/or graph data models.Experience with data quality, validation, schema evolution and data contracts. Strongly PreferredKnowledge Graph / Ontology / Knowledge Representation experience.Experience with Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, Azure Cosmos DB, RDF, OWL, SPARQL or Gremlin.Experience with entity resolution, taxonomies or semantic data.Experience supporting AI/ML, RAG, LLM or agentic systems.Experience converting graph/semantic data into structured datasets for downstream applications.
