Senior Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE)

Remote (EU-Based) | European Office Hours | 12-Month Rolling Contract | €450 per Day We are partnering with an enterprise organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to join a high-performing technology team responsible for the reliability, performance, and scalability of business-critical database platforms. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on database engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving operational resilience, and working across cloud and infrastructure environments. The OpportunityAs a Senior DBRE, you will take ownership of production database environments, ensuring they remain secure, highly available, and performant. Working alongside Infrastructure, Engineering, and Application teams, you'll help drive automation, optimise database performance, and improve platform reliability across a modern cloud-based environment. Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and administer production MongoDB, Percona/MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server environments.Maintain high availability, backup, disaster recovery, and recovery procedures across database platforms.Monitor database health, performance, and capacity, implementing improvements where required.Investigate and resolve complex production issues, performing root cause analysis and driving preventative improvements.Optimise database performance through query tuning, indexing, and configuration enhancements.Collaborate with Infrastructure, DevOps, and Engineering teams to support application delivery and platform reliability.Contribute to automation initiatives using Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting technologies.Implement and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability across database services.Produce and maintain operational documentation, standards, and best practices. Expertise You Bring7+ years' experience supporting production database environments.Strong hands-on experience administering MongoDB.Experience with Percona/MySQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server.Good understanding of AWS cloud services.Strong Linux/Unix administration skills.Experience working within DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) environments.Knowledge of database replication, high availability, backup, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, or Bash would be beneficial.Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
