Role Description The Senior Mechanical HVDC Plant Designer will be responsible for designing mechanical systems and components for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) plants, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with technical standards. In this full-time, on-site role based in Ludvika or Västerås, the designer will create and revise detailed 3D models and drawings using CAD tools, prepare technical documentation, and support layout planning for HVDC stations and associated equipment. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, reviewing specifications, coordinating with suppliers and manufacturing teams, and participating in design reviews and risk assessments. The role also involves supporting installation and commissioning activities, resolving mechanical design issues, and contributing to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.QualificationsStrong mechanical engineering background, with proven experience in mechanical design for industrial or power systems.Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and 3D modeling for plant and equipment layouts.Experience in maintenance and inspection of mechanical systems, with a focus on reliability and safety.Relevant industry experience, such as automotive or heavy equipment, with transferable skills to complex mechanical assemblies.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.Knowledge of HVDC technology, power plants, or high-voltage equipment is an advantage.Familiarity with international standards, engineering calculations, and technical documentation practices.Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multicultural teams and communicate clearly in English; Swedish language skills are beneficial.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.Your backgroundWe know that no candidate meets every requirement.
