Senior Engineer Multi-Robot Software & Simulation (Distrusted systems) - Role is based in Abu Dhabi - so relocation is required - 90,000 to 100,000K Euro TAX FREE (Same as 150-180K in Western Europe) depending on experience + amazing relocation support + Private Education allowance + 1 month hotel + free flights out and home + visa’s + x2 first month salary. Role is Abu Dhabi based so relocation required | Advanced Robotics R&D We are recruiting a Senior Engineer Multi-Robot Software engineer to join a high-calibre robotics research team developing coordinated autonomous systems across air, land and marine platforms. These are hands-on engineering roles for someone who can take research concepts, prototype algorithms and mathematical models and turn them into reliable, scalable software that performs on real robotic systems. You will play a key role in shaping the software architecture, middleware and simulation framework used to test and deploy multi-robot capabilities. Essential requirements for the TII Multi Robot group These are essential selection criteria. Candidates who cannot demonstrate the relevant experience below will not progress... You must have hands-on experience of genuinely distributed multi-robot systems, where robots make coordinated decisions using neighbouring robot positions, local sensing or information exchanged with other robots, without relying on a central computer for every decision. Engineer applicants must have personally implemented software running on the robots and be able to explain how their system coordinates when the server or control station becomes unavailable. Server-side development or operator GUI work alone is not sufficient. You must also demonstrate personal involvement in transferring multi-robot research from simulation onto physical hardware, including the real-world problems they encountered and addressed. An on-board controller following a pre-planned path does not meet this requirement if it does not take other robots into account. Centralised-only experience is not sufficient. The role Design scalable software architectures for multi-robot systemsDevelop robust production-level software in C++ and PythonBuild and maintain high-fidelity robotics simulation environmentsImprove the transition from simulation into physical deploymentDevelop and scale middleware within the ROS2 ecosystemAnalyse telemetry, field data and system behaviourTroubleshoot software, communications and integration issuesSupport physical testing across aerial, ground and marine platforms work closely with researchers, controls engineers and systems teams What we are looking for Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Control Engineering or a related disciplineStrong modern C++ and/or Python development experienceAdvanced knowledge of robotics simulation tools such as GazeboProven experience moving robotics software from simulation to hardwareStrong ROS2 and middleware development experienceBackground in multi-agent or multi-robot systemsComfortable taking full ownership from development through to field testing Useful additional experiencePX4, ArduPilot, Nav2 or MOOS-IvP, Docker, CI/CD and robotics software deploymentPhysical robot integration and field trialsCommunications constraints, latency and intermittent connectivityWiFi mesh, LoRa or related communication technologies Package & relocation benefits Highly competitive tax-free salary - 85K Euro to 95K Euro + yearly reviewsDouble salary payment in your first month to support relocationOne month of hotel accommodation on arrivalFull visa and relocation supportPrivate healthcare and dental cover for you and your familyAnnual return flights for you and your familyEducation allowance of up to AED 30,000 per child22 days’ annual leave plus approximately 12 UAE public holidaysFree on-site lunch, Access to excellent research facilities, laboratories and robotic platformsFree Yoga and Padel lessons/groups Hiring processThe process is designed to be thorough but straightforward:Initial conversation with Kevin at Set2RecruitFirst technical interview with the engineering teamSecond technical and project-focused interviewFinal HR discussionSecurity and background clearanceFormal offer and relocation support The interview process typically takes around four to six weeks, followed by approximately two to four weeks for clearance.
