Exciting and Independent Role for an Experienced Diesel Engine Technician

Due to increased activity in the Sotkamo region, we are now seeking an experienced diesel engine technician for a permanent position as Service Technician.

The company is experiencing increased activity in Sotkamo in connection with the mining operations at Terrafame and we are looking for an experienced diesel engine mechanic for a permanent position as a service technician associated with the mine.

As a Service Technician, you will be BOS Power’s local representative in Sotkamo/Kajaani and play a key role in supporting our growing installed base of MTU engines and power solutions in Finland. You will work closely with customers, our local service partner, and colleagues across the Nordic organization to ensure high equipment availability, operational reliability, and customer satisfaction.

The role includes broad responsibility for planning, coordinating, and carrying out both preventive and corrective maintenance activities, as well as ensuring clear, accurate, and structured reporting.

The position is based in Sotkamo/Kajaani and offers a high degree of independence while being part of a strong Nordic service organization. You will collaborate closely with experienced colleagues in Helsinki, Bergen, Stockholm, and Copenhagen, and participate in regular technical and operational meetings with Rolls-Royce Power Systems, both in person and via Teams. Some travel within Finland and the Nordic region should be expected.

BOS Power places great emphasis on maintaining a high level of technical expertise among our service technicians. The ideal candidate has solid hands-on experience and a strong technical understanding of diesel engines. Product-specific training will be provided through BOS Power’s training programs and at the MTU factory in Germany.

The position reports to the Operation Manager, BOS Power Finland.

Key ResponsibilitiesContribute actively to maximizing equipment uptime and operational reliabilityPlan and execute service and maintenance assignments in cooperation with customers, local service partners, and BOS Power’s technical support organizationPerform inspections, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and technical investigationsImplement corrective actions and ensure proper follow-up of technical issuesPrepare service reports, maintenance documentation, and accurate timesheetsEnsure proper use, maintenance, and organization of BOS Power tools and equipmentSupport customers with technical advice and recommendationsContinuously develop technical competence through training and certification programs

QualificationsVocational qualification in diesel engine technology, heavy vehicle maintenance, industrial or marine engine maintenance, or related technical fieldRelevant experience working with diesel engines, power generation equipment, heavy machinery, marine engines, or similar industrial equipmentExperience working independently with a strong focus on documentation and reportingGood troubleshooting and diagnostic skillsExperience in a field service role is considered an advantageValid driving licence (Category B)
