What makes a house a home is what a family brings to it once the house itself is finished: the gatherings, the holidays, the ordinary years.

The first two conversations in this series looked at how homes get designed, built, and protected. This one is about what happens once a family is living there. It takes interiors suited to how a family actually lives, grounds that draw people outside, and a household that runs well enough to be invisible. Each depends on the others, and on people who understand how a particular family wants to live.

Among the questions on the table: how a home is designed for gathering and for the way a particular family entertains, what it takes for several properties to each feel like home rather than only one, and how a place keeps its character as it passes to the next generation.

This session is not recorded, so it is worth joining live.
