Apprenticeship Leathercraft

Wieser Tamás is a leather atelier at Villagatan 5, Stockholm, working with traditional methods: bark-tanned hides, wet-moulded forms, hand saddle-stitching, and Argentium silver. Each piece is made by hand, one at a time. We are at the beginning of building a leather house, and we are looking for an artisan-in-training to join the atelier for six months, someone who wants to develop within the craft and grow with the house over time. For the right person, the probability of continuing beyond the initial period is high. The work The apprentice sits at the bench from the first day, working alongside our artisans on bespoke and made-to-order commissions: saddle-stitching, edge finishing, skiving, and hand-dressing on live pieces; assisting in wet-moulding and pattern preparation; and taking part in the daily routines of the atelier, including leather selection, material handling, and workshop upkeep. The candidate We ask for demonstrated experience in leatherwork, including confident command of the saddle stitch. Beyond technique, we value patient hands, close attention to detail, care for the material, and a steady, thorough approach to learning. The atelier works in Swedish or English. The interview As part of the interview, you will be asked to produce a small leather mock-up at the bench, so that we can see how you work.
