About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Automation / Controls Engineer to support our client's manufacturing operations in Uppsala, Sweden.You will work hands-on with the site's industrial automation and OT environment, supporting PLC, SCADA and HMI systems across process and production areas. The role combines automation engineering, commissioning, troubleshooting and continuous improvement in a regulated GMP manufacturing environment. 🚀 Automation / Controls Engineer📍 Location: Uppsala, Sweden — Onsite⏳ Duration: 12 months, with potential extension💼 Engagement: Fixed-Term / FTE 🔧 What You'll DoConfigure, test and maintain PLC, SCADA and HMI systems for process equipment, utilities and packaging lines.Develop and troubleshoot PLC logic, including Ladder Logic and Structured Text.Work with Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000 or equivalent PLC platforms.Support equipment installation, commissioning and start-up.Participate in FAT/SAT and execute IQ/OQ validation activities.Troubleshoot control faults, alarms, interlocks and automation issues directly on the shop floor.Collaborate with operators, maintenance teams, system integrators and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.Maintain reliable OT data and connectivity, including OPC UA, Modbus, historians and SCADA/MES interfaces.Support automation-related deviation investigations and root-cause analysis.Maintain OT systems, backups, software versions and user access in accordance with site procedures.Contribute to GMP/GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11 and OT cybersecurity compliance.Support equipment upgrades and help identify automation hardware/software obsolescence.🎯 What We're Looking ForMust Have:5+ years of experience in Automation / Controls Engineering.Strong hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.Experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Allen-Bradley or equivalent.Experience with SCADA / HMI systems.Experience in industrial/process/manufacturing automation.Hands-on experience with commissioning and equipment start-up.Good understanding of industrial instrumentation and control systems.Strong English communication skills.Ability to work onsite in Uppsala, Sweden.Nice to Have:Pharmaceutical / biotech / medical-device manufacturing experience.GMP / GAMP 5 environment.FAT/SAT and IQ/OQ experience.OPC UA / Modbus / historian / MES integration.OT cybersecurity / IEC 62443.Experience with IIoT or industrial data platforms. 🌟 Why This Opportunity?Join a technically challenging manufacturing automation project where you'll work directly with production-critical OT systems, modern PLC/SCADA technologies, commissioning activities and regulated manufacturing processes.
