Automation Engineer

A leading automation and intralogistics organisation is seeking a PLC Commissioning Engineer to join its engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale automated warehousing, distribution, and material handling projects, supporting the delivery of complex control systems from installation through to commissioning and handover. You will work closely with engineering, software, and project teams to commission automated systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure solutions are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The Role:This position will focus on PLC programming, system commissioning, fault diagnosis, and control system optimisation. You will play a key role in ensuring automated systems perform reliably while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across projects. Key Responsibilities:Commission and troubleshoot automated control systemsDevelop and modify PLC software using Siemens TIA PortalDiagnose software, hardware, networking, and electrical faultsSupport system integration, testing, and final handoverProduce commissioning documentation and reportsEnsure compliance with health & safety and industry standardsDrive continuous improvement across systems and processes Key Requirements:Proven PLC commissioning experience within automation environmentsStrong Siemens TIA Portal knowledgeExperience with Profinet, Profibus, AS-i, and industrial networkingKnowledge of servo drives, inverters, and motion control systemsStrong fault-finding and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and organisational skillsExperience within warehouse automation, intralogistics, or material handling systems is advantageous
