Certification Engineer

About the Role Rebaba is building circular battery systems from second-life EV batteries. Our products power buildings, industries, and charging infrastructure while reducing costs and emissions. We design and assemble our systems in Sweden and combine hardware, embedded software, and cloud control into one integrated platform. We are now hiring a Certification Engineer to build and own our certification process from the ground up, making sure everything we design, build, and ship meets the standards, directives, and safety requirements. You will shape how Rebaba certifies BESS systems today and become one of the few real experts in the world in certifying second-life BESS. If you want to go deep on real electrical systems, own a process end to end, and become a genuine expert in a field that barely exists yet, we would love to hear from you. As Certification Engineer at Rebaba you will own the full certification process for our BESS products, from reading and interpreting the applicable directives and standards, to defining what needs to be tested and how, to producing the technical documentation that proves it. This is a hands-on role that sits between engineering, quality, and delivery. You will work closely with our engineering team and external certification partners, and over time become the internal and external authority on what it takes to certify second-life battery systems for European markets. Responsibilities Build, own, and continuously improve Rebaba's certification process for BESS products, covering LVD, EMC, and the EU Battery RegulationInterpret and apply the standards, directives, and regulations governing battery systems, electrical safety, EMC, and enclosures (e.g. IEC 62619, IEC 62933, UN 38.3, CE marking, the Low Voltage and EMC Directives, RoHS), and determine which requirements are applicable to our specific product designTranslate standards and customer, grid, and safety requirements into clear, traceable technical requirements for the engineering teams, and maintain requirements traceability across product developmentDefine what tests need to be run, how, and against which acceptance criteria, based on the relevant standardsPlan and manage compliance and certification activities as projects - scope, timeline, testing, documentation, and sign-offCoordinate and align certification processes with notified bodies, test labs, and external partners; select and manage external test labsOwn technical compliance documentation, including declarations of conformity, technical files, risk assessments, and test reports, ensuring every compliance claim is traceable to a primary sourceLead product safety, hazard, and risk analyses for our battery systemsTrack open regulatory and standard-interpretation questions, escalate where needed, and drive them to closureWork closely with electronics, mechanical, software, and quality teams to build compliance into the design from the startKeep Rebaba ahead of evolving standards and regulatory requirements in energy storage, and feed changes back into the productLay the path for how certification scales as Rebaba expands into new products and markets Requirements Engineering degree (electrical engineering or similar) or comparable hands-on qualificationExperience with power electronics and electrical systems in one or more of: UPS systems, PV inverters, LV switchgear, EV charging infrastructure, motor drives/VFDs, EV battery packs, or stationary battery/backup power systemsSolid understanding of core electrical concepts relevant to BESS: insulation coordination, DC/DC or DC/AC power conversion, contactor/switching logic, short-circuit protectionComfortable reading and working directly with electrical schematics and system architecture, not just specificationsWell-versed and structured in requirements analysis and requirements managementComfortable working across electronics, mechanical, and software teams and translating between themYou are exceptionally rigorous and precise, read regulations and standards carefully and literallyYou have the patience to trace every claim back to its source, and the discipline to keep detailed, structured records over long-running projectsProfessional English; Swedish is a plusYou thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with fast decision cycles and high autonomyYou are excited about clean energy and want to build something you believe in Meriting Prior experience with product certification, CE marking, or regulatory complianceExperience with IEC 62933, IEC 62477-1, IEC 61439-1, IEC 62619, or IEC 60664-1Background in battery chemistry, EV batteries, or second-life applicationsPrior direct contact with notified bodies or testing laboratoriesExperience with gap analysis or risk tracking in technical/regulatory projects Benefits Own certification end to end, in a field where the playbook is still being writtenBecome one of the few real experts in certifying second-life BESS, in Europe or anywhereClose collaboration with a small, hands-on engineering teamA mission-driven company focused on sustainable energy solutionsA clear path to grow as Rebaba scales - in seniority, responsibility, and scope About Rebaba Rebaba is at the forefront of sustainable energy storage solutions.
