We're building lean, AI-leveraged internal operations from day one, and we're looking for a COO who can turn that ambition into a scalable, disciplined operating company. Role Description The Chief Operating Officer (COO) — As COO, you will be the operational backbone of MARV — partnering directly with the CEO/Founder to translate strategy into execution across a distributed, multi-hub organization. You'll own the systems, processes, and people infrastructure that let a lean global team move fast without breaking. This is a founding executive role with significant equity upside and the mandate to shape how MARV scales from pre-seed to Series A and beyond. What You'll Do: Operating Rhythm & Execution: Build and run the company's operating cadence — planning cycles, OKRs, budgeting, and cross-functional accountability across engineering, product, legal, and go-to-market teams.Global Entity & Regulatory Coordination: Stand up and manage MARV's regional operating structure, working with local leadership across the Americas, EU/UK, Nordics, Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific to ensure each entity operates efficiently and in compliance with local requirements (e.g., GDPR, AI Act, data residency).Finance & Fundraising Support: Own budgeting, cash-flow management, and financial operations; partner with the CEO on investor reporting, due-diligence processes, and board materials as MARV progresses through its pre-seed and Series A milestones.People & Organization Design: Build scalable HR, recruiting, and compensation infrastructure to support a distributed team with hubs in Stockholm, San Francisco, Miami, and beyond — while keeping the organization lean and cost-efficient.Vendor, Legal & Compliance Operations: Manage key vendor relationships, corporate legal structuring, and compliance workflows across multiple jurisdictions.Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the connective tissue between engineering, product, legal, and commercial teams, ensuring priorities are aligned and execution stays on track as MARV moves from MLP (Minimum Lovable Product) to secure beta to global launch.AI-Native Operations: Champion the use of AI tools to run lean internal operations — from finance and HR to reporting and compliance — consistent with MARV's own product philosophy. What We're Looking For: 8+ years of senior operating experience, including prior COO, VP Operations, Chief of Staff, or General Manager roles at a high-growth startup or scaleup — legal tech, fintech, or regulated AI/SaaS experience strongly preferred.Track record of building operational infrastructure from near-zero — you've stood up finance, HR, and compliance functions at an early-stage company and scaled them through multiple growth stages.Experience operating across multiple countries/entities, ideally including exposure to EU regulatory frameworks (GDPR, AI Act) and multi-jurisdictional corporate structuring.Strong financial acumen: comfortable owning budgets, cash management, and board/investor reporting in a fundraising environment.Proven ability to partner with a founder/CEO as a true operating counterpart — someone who can run the company day-to-day while the CEO focuses on product, fundraising, and vision.Experience hiring and managing distributed, international teams; comfortable working across time zones with hubs in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.A builder's mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, moving fast, and creating structure where none exists yet.Genuine interest in legal AI, agentic AI, and the future of trusted digital communication.
