FORWARD DEPLOYED ENGINEERHardpointAI · Helsinki region · Full time --------------------------------------------------------------------ABOUT HARDPOINTAI-------------------------------------------------------------------- HardpointAI builds deployable edge intelligence for environments where the network is unreliable, contested, or deliberately silent. Our rugged nodes run EdgeOS. It ingests multi-sensor input -- camera, radar, GNSS/INS, and full-motion video with STANAG 4609 KLV metadata -- and turns detections into tracked objects and mission events on the node itself. Rather than stream raw video, EdgeOS transmits compact structured events under emission-control policy the operator sets: event-driven updates, burst when a window opens, full function during radio silence. When the link drops the node keeps working and spools; when the linkreturns it replays in order. Zero events lost across 42.97 million over 77 days in production. Those events publish into the Palantir Foundry ontology, so the object on the node and the object in the upstream picture are the same thing, with no translation layer in between. We are post-product and revenue-generating, with paid deployments running today. Palantir Startup Fellowship, Cohort 002. --------------------------------------------------------------------THE ROLE-------------------------------------------------------------------- Two halves, and we mean both. Deployment. You take a node from a freshly flashed module to a working system at a customer site: provisioning, sensors, networking, radios, field bring-up, and the runbook that makes the next one repeatable. Integration. You connect EdgeOS to the customer's command and data systems. The Foundry path is in production today. Everything beyond it -- other command-and-control platforms, customer data platforms, their schemas and message contracts -- is work to be built, and it is yours tobuild. We would rather say that plainly than imply a connector exists because it appears on a slide. You will often be the only technical person in the room, or in the field. --------------------------------------------------------------------WHAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY DO--------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Provision and bring up edge nodes: NVIDIA Jetson, Ubuntu, systemd, Docker, static networking, sensor udev rules, mesh radios- Design and build ingest adapters and back-end services in Python- Integrate with customer command and data systems -- APIs, schemas, message contracts, and the negotiation that goes with them- Debug live deployments, where the cause is as likely to be a cable, a clock or a routing table as it is your code - Support field trials alongside the people who will use the system, and bring what you learn back into the product- Write the runbook, so the next deployment does not require you

--------------------------------------------------------------------WHAT WE NEED--------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Strong Python, at production quality. This is the language the stack is written in.- Real Linux depth: systemd, networking, containers, and the instinct to read a log and a kernel message before guessing- Comfort around hardware, sensors and cabling. This job involves a crimp tool as well as a keyboard.- Experience integrating systems you do not control, against documentation that turns out to be wrong- The judgement to work alone at a customer site and make calls without a channel to ask in- EU/EEA work authorisation, and working English

--------------------------------------------------------------------HELPS, BUT WE DO NOT EXPECT ALL OF IT--------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Embedded Linux, NVIDIA Jetson, GStreamer- Messaging and streaming systems: NATS, MQTT, Kafka- Palantir Foundry, or another ontology/data platform- A background where systems run far from a desk: defence, maritime, mining, energy, industrial automation- Formal qualifications are welcome. Evidence of what you have built and fielded matters more.

--------------------------------------------------------------------PRACTICAL-------------------------------------------------------------------- Based in the Helsinki region, with significant travel to deployment sites. Some of those environments are demanding, and some we can only describe in conversation rather than in a public advert. If travel ofthat kind is not what you want, this is not the role -- it is most of the job. You would be joining a small team where the work is visible and the distance between a decision and its consequence is short.
