Freelance Illustrator – Cartoon Group Portrait
This role is for a skilled illustrator to create a modern 2D flat cartoon group portrait featuring a woman, her husband, and their cat. The artwork will be approximately 50 x 40 cm in portrait format, designed in a simple, mid-century-inspired style with colourful yet muted, soft tones. The illustration should capture personalized facial details and incorporate flowers and meaningful items around the subjects to enrich the composition. Reference images will be provided to guide the style and personalization. This is a personal commission with a firm deadline for delivery by May 2027.
Responsibilities
Design and illustrate a group portrait in a modern 2D flat cartoon style, following mid-century inspiration. Incorporate personalized facial features and small, meaningful items and flowers around the subjects. Use a colour palette of muted, soft tones to achieve the desired aesthetic. Ensure the composition is balanced and visually engaging, filling the portrait space effectively. Collaborate with the client to review reference images and integrate feedback. Deliver the final artwork in high-resolution digital format by the agreed deadline.
Skills And Requirements
Proven experience in cartoon or illustrative portraiture, with a strong portfolio demonstrating similar work. Proficiency in digital illustration tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, or equivalent. Ability to interpret and incorporate client feedback and reference materials. Strong sense of composition, colour, and personalized detail. Excellent communication skills and responsiveness. Availability to complete the project by May 2027. Experience with mid-century and modern cartoon styles is highly desirable.
