Solidarity Committee is currently seeking an experienced, analytical, and detail-oriented Grants Controller to strengthen the grants management, compliance, and accountability of its growing grants portfolio.

SC is currently seeking an experienced, analytical, and detail-oriented Grants Controller to strengthen the grants management, compliance, and accountability of its growing grants portfolio. Working closely with programme, partnership, and finance colleagues, the Grants Controller will play a key role in ensuring high standards of donor compliance, financial integrity, risk management, and partner accountability.

As part of SC, you will work in a small and agile organisation characterised by high levels of commitment and purpose. You will contribute to the effective management of donor-funded programmes and partnerships implemented in partnership with local international organisations, ensuring that resources are managed responsibly and in accordance with donor requirements, organisational policies, and partnership principles.

The Grants Controller is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity, compliance, and quality of SC’s grants portfolio. The role combines hands-on grants management with strategic support to programme development, donor compliance, financial risk management, and partner capacity strengthening.

Working closely with partnership and programme staff, partners, and finance colleagues in both Stockholm and Kabul, the Grants Controller will support proposal development, donor contracting, budgeting, financial reporting, audits, compliance monitoring, and anti-corruption measures throughout the grant lifecycle. The position also contributes to the continuous development of organisational systems, procedures, and learning related to grants management and accountability.

Lead the development and quality assurance of financial and administrative aspects of donor concept notes, applications, agreements, amendments, and budgets.Ensure donor budgets, financial reporting formats, and cost structures are compliant with donor agreements, regulations, and SC standards.Support the review and interpretation of donor agreements, with particular attention to financial, audit, and compliance requirements.Coordinate and quality assure donor financial reporting.Oversee and support Grants/ Finance Officer in reviewing partner financial reports and support documentation for compliance with donor agreements and SC’s agreement and anti‑corruption framework.Oversee and support Grants/ Finance Officer in supporting and financial monitoring of partners.Contribute to or when required lead the development and streamlining of routines, templates, and steering documents related to financial and administrative aspects of proposal development and re-granting.Support Grants/ Finance Officer in Kabul in assessing and documenting the financial and administrative capacity of partner organisations, including systems, controls, and compliance readinessEnsure that SC grants and partner management systems include effective controls to prevent, detect, and report corruption and misuse of funds.Ensure partner audits meet SC and donor standards, including review of audit scopes and partner audit reports.Work with Programme Managers to follow up on financial irregularities, audit findings, or compliance concerns.Contribute to organisational learning related to financial risk management, fraud prevention, and accountability in partnerships.Support Chief Finance Officer (CFO) with inputs to donor‑related financial audits and external reviews as required.Ensure consistency between grants‑specific procedures and broader organisational financial policies.Stay informed about SC’s strategic priorities, partnership approaches, and operational contexts.
