Would you like to contribute to the safe use of medicines and vaccines globally? We are looking for a Learning & Development specialist to join our Learning & Development section.

Since 1978, Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) has been dedicated to developing, supporting, and expanding the field of pharmacovigilance science and practice.

As a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre, we support work around the world to examine the potential adverse effects of medicines and vaccines and contribute to safer, more informed care of patients.

We are a diverse, international group of pharmacists, physicians, data scientists, system developers, communicators, and many other professionals motivated by a deep belief that the work we do matters.

The Learning & Development section is part of UMC’s Communications & Learning department and is responsible for designing and developing online courses and overarching learning concepts. The section develops frameworks and structures to ensure alignment, continuous maintenance, and evaluation of learning initiatives. Through our Learning Management System (LMS), we offer courses designed for both a broad global audience and specific groups, including members of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring (WHO PIDM) and users of UMC products.

We are seeking someone who can translate complex information into clear, engaging, and accessible learning content. You are skilled in digital learning tools, instructional design principles, and LMS management, and you bring both structure and creativity to your work. You have the ability to develop training concepts and learning paths grounded in the needs expressed by the business areas. With a collaborative mindset and strong organisational skills, you confidently manage multiple learning initiatives at the same time. You are also comfortable presenting and facilitating workshops.

You will report to the Head of Learning & Development section.

What You Will Do

Design and develop online learning modules based on best practices in instructional design and adult learning theoriesAdminister and manage the LMS, including uploading courses, tracking progress and generating reportsProvide technical support for online learning throughout course life cyclesCollaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) when developing learning contentApply instructional design principles to ensure learning content is pedagogically sound, engaging, and aligned with organisational goalsDevelop and deliver standardised presentations and learning materials for cross-functional useDeliver and facilitate organisation-wide face-to-face workshops and courses

Skills & Requirements

University degree in instructional design, educational technology or similarA background in the life sciences, healthcare or similar is a plusCreative with strong ability to translate complex information into clear and engaging learning contentSkilled in using Articulate 360 or similar e-learning authoring toolsSkilled in applying instructional design principlesBasic graphic design skills or familiarity with tools like Photoshop or Canva are an advantageExperienced with LMS administrationStructured, organized, and able to manage multiple learning initiatives simultaneouslyCollaborative and confident working with SMEsSolution-oriented with the ability to turn needs into concrete learning experiences and training concepts.Comfortable presenting and facilitating workshops for diverse audiencesFluent in written and spoken EnglishAdditional language skills are a plus
