The Department of Computer Sciences invites applications for a

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER in AI Engineering.

The AI Engineering research group at the University of Helsinki consists of close to twenty persons working on questions related to the development, deployment, and operation of AI based software systems. Some of the main themes include monitoring, cost-efficiency, and operational processes over the lifetime of the systems. The position is a fixed-term project for 2.5 years with a possible extension.

Position description

The work is related to the national and European projects where we work for research-based solutions to challenges defined together with our industry partners. Our work covers a spectrum of aspects from data science to software engineering. The detailed content of the work can be tailored to the background and interests of the applicant. Besides research, the work involves project management, mentoring of junior researchers, and thesis supervision.

The position has a trial period of 6 months.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has a PhD in data science, computer science, or software engineering with a focus on the practice of AI. Teamworking and communication skills are important as our project involves working together with our industry partners. Creativity and agility are important in this fast-moving area.Good written and oral communication skills in English are necessary to succeed in this role.

Salary and benefits

The salary will be in accordance with the University salary system (requirement level 5). In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The starting salary will be approximately 4000-4400 €/month.
