Power BI Architect - Lead Developer SME

Description:The Power BI Lead SME will serve as the primary point of contact and technical authority for the entire delivery team. The individual will provide leadership across architecture, data modelling, report design, governance, stakeholder management, and delivery execution, ensuring a successful migration from Oracle Discoverer to Power BI. Key ResponsibilitiesThis role would effectively function as the Power BI Solution Lead + Chief SME for the entire migration program. Act as the overall Power BI Subject Matter Expert and trusted advisor for both stakeholders and the delivery team.Lead the design and implementation of Power BI solutions, including semantic models, dashboards, reports, and dataflows.Define and govern Power BI architecture, development standards, best practices, and reusable components.Drive requirements workshops with business stakeholders and translate business needs into reporting and analytics solutions.Guide the migration of legacy Discoverer reports to Power BI and ensure consistency of KPIs, business rules, and calculations.Review and approve solution designs, data models, DAX calculations, and report development produced by the team.Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical leadership to Power BI developers and data engineers.Lead performance optimization, scalability, security, and governance initiatives.Support user adoption through demonstrations, training sessions, and business engagement.Coordinate with data platform teams, business SMEs, and project leadership to ensure successful delivery. Mandatory Skills & Experience10+ years of Business Intelligence and Analytics experience.7+ years of hands-on Power BI experience.Expert-level knowledge of:Power BI ServicePower BI DesktopDAXPower QueryDataflowsSemantic ModelsRow-Level Security (RLS)Strong data modeling skills using star schema and dimensional modeling principles.Experience leading large-scale reporting and analytics transformation programs.Strong understanding of data warehousing and enterprise reporting architectures.Proven experience engaging with senior business stakeholders and leadership teams.Ability to lead distributed onsite/offshore delivery teams. Preferred ExperienceManufacturing, automotive, logistics, or industrial domain experience.Experience with Oracle Discoverer migrations.Experience working with enterprise data platforms such as Azure, Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, SAP BW, or Oracle Data Warehouse.Financial and P&L reporting experience.Agile delivery experience.
