Senior Machine Learning Engineer (LLMs & Generative AI)Location: Candidates must be based in the UK, Germany, France, or New York (USA). A company at the intersection of AI and healthcare is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning solutions. This role focuses on Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and modern deep learning systems, bridging research and production. Key responsibilities:Lead the development of scalable machine learning libraries, tools, and research workflows.Build infrastructure that enables reproducible experimentation and efficient model development.Translate research prototypes into production-ready machine learning systems.Design and optimize training and inference pipelines for large-scale models.Promote software engineering best practices, including testing, modularity, CI/CD, and containerization.Collaborate closely with researchers, data scientists, and engineering teams to accelerate AI development.Mentor engineers and help drive technical excellence across the team. Required experience:Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related quantitative field.5+ years of professional experience developing production machine learning systems in Python.Strong expertise with PyTorch or TensorFlow.Deep understanding of Transformers, attention mechanisms, LLMs, Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic AI, and the Hugging Face ecosystem.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), MLOps, Docker, and distributed training or inference.Strong software engineering skills and experience building maintainable, scalable systems. Desirable experience:Healthcare, clinical, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, or medical imaging data.Open-source contributions or research publications.
