Senior Mechanical Design Engineer– Vehicle Concepts

RDT is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an advanced engineering team working with early-phase vehicle development and concept projects in Södertälje.The team works with advanced and innovative vehicle concepts, including new technologies such as electrification, hydrogen and e-Mining. The projects are fast-paced and involve close collaboration across R&D, Production and other engineering functions.You will contribute to the development of technical concepts and mechanical designs, working from early ideas toward feasible solutions. The role requires someone who is comfortable working with evolving requirements and can deliver practical design solutions within tight timelines. Key responsibilitiesDevelop mechanical concepts and designs for advanced vehicle applicationsCreate 3D models and concept-level drawings using Catia V5Contribute to vehicle layout and system integrationDevelop and evaluate solutions related to BEV, cooling, braking, steering and battery installationsCollaborate closely with R&D, Production and cross-functional engineering teamsSupport FEM calculations and design validationAssess design feasibility and adapt solutions as project requirements evolveDeliver practical concept-level design solutions within tight timelinesContribute to continuous improvement of technical solutions and engineering methods Required experience7+ years of professional experience in mechanical design or a related engineering fieldStrong experience in concept development and early-phase engineeringProven hands-on experience with Catia V5Experience with Enovia or a similar PLM systemProfessional experience with BEV / electric vehicle developmentGood understanding of vehicle layout and system integrationExperience within one or more of cooling systems, braking systems, steering or battery componentsKnowledge of FEM calculations for design validationAbility to work effectively in fast-paced projects with changing requirementsStrong collaboration and communication skills
