Senior OT Network & Systems Engineer (BESS)

About our clientWe are supporting a major international organisation in hiring a Senior OT Network & Systems Engineer to work on the secure connectivity, networking and control infrastructure behind large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role sits at the intersection of OT networking, cybersecurity, electrical infrastructure and BESS control systems, working across technically complex energy projects. What you'll be doingYou'll take technical ownership of OT network environments supporting BESS installations, including network architecture, segmentation, firewalls, industrial communications and secure integration with EMS/SCADA environments. You'll work across engineering and project teams to design, implement and troubleshoot secure OT infrastructure while supporting the delivery of BESS sites from a digital and controls perspective. What we're looking for7+ years' experience in OT networking, industrial networking or cybersecurity engineering.Strong L2/L3 networking, routing, switching, VLAN and industrial network architecture experience.Hands-on experience with industrial firewalls such as Fortinet, Palo Alto or Cisco.Strong knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus/TCP, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5, DNP3, MQTT and OPC-UA.Understanding of OT cybersecurity frameworks such as IEC 62443.Knowledge of SCADA, EMS, PLC/RTU, BMS and industrial control environments.Ability to operate across both the digital/OT and electrical sides of technically complex projects.Fluent English. The profile that will really stand outBeyond strong OT engineering expertise, we're particularly interested in candidates who have personally delivered EPC projects involving BESS installations, with direct exposure to the control systems of a BESS site.Experience taking BESS infrastructure through real-world implementation and delivery rather than purely designing or supporting OT networks will be particularly valuable.
